This lovely little boy was dumped outside the shelter when he was about 3 months old. He had been well cared for, and had obviously been in a house before because he just loves to lay in your arms and purr. Romany has now been castrated, blood-tested and vaccinated. D.O.B 01/05/2011

Siamese cat lost

The above Siamese Angora cross went missing the weekend before Easter. She lived in Los Carmenes on Las Marinas. If you have seen her, please phone 607 470 433 (Spanish speaking).

The lovely siamese-cross Freya escaped around 14th October from her home in Ogisaka Garden, Denia. She was originally rescued from the Montgo area. If you have seen her, please contact us by telephone or email and we will contact the owner.

Handel, Nye y Noll

A continuación un extracto del e-mail de la persona, que adoptó Handel (que ahora se llama Shogun) y dos gatitos Nye y Noll, que ahora se llaman Opium y Onyx:

Estimada Lynda, tal y como te prometí, aquí te envío este e-mail para darte noticias sobre los tres gatos adoptivos.

El viaje a Francia fue bien. Llegamos a nuestra casa sin ningún problema. Ambos bebés siameses durmieron durante el viaje - Lena y yo las llamamos "Opium" y "Onyx" - (fui a la clínica de Ana, el pasado lunes en la tarde para ponerles un chip y hacerles un pasaporte, así que todo estaba en regla para pasar la frontera). No puedes imaginar lo contenta que está mi hija - juega mucho con ellos!

Para "Shogun", el trayecto en coche no fue muy agradable al principio. Se asustó mucho y sólo consiguió dormir al cabo de un buen rato.

La primera noche en casa, los puse juntos en un cuarto separado para que mis otros gatos pudiesen olerlos sin ninguna posibilidad de conflicto. Tras unos días de convivencia ya estoy satisfecha del resultado. La mayoría de mis gatos anteriores los acepta - tan sólo dos de mis machos dominantes aún muestran signos de celos... pero creo que el tiempo les ayudará.

Los pequeños siameses y Shogun juegan mucho juntos y Shogun poco a poco parece apreciar su nueva vida. Él es menos tímido y le encanta que le pasen el cepillo. Mi veterinario le ha recetado unas vitaminas para su piel para que pueda recuperar fuerza y convertirse en el hermoso gato que debió haber sido antes de ser abandonado.

Estoy muy agradecida por toda tu ayuda para obtener los papeles para Shogun y realmente admiro el compromiso y el tiempo dedicados a todos estos pobres gatos. La gente como tú y las personas que ayudan en la Aldea Felina son dificiles de encontrar.

The following is part of a letter from the person, who adopted Handel (now called Shogun) and two kittens Nye and Noll, now called Opium and Onyx:

Dear Lynda, As promised I send you this e-mail to give you some news about the three adoptive cats.

The travel to France was good, and we reached our home without any problem. Both siamese babies slept during the travel - Lena and I called them "Opium" and "Onyx" - (as discussed I went to Ana's clinic last Monday in the afternoon to let them chip and deliver a passport, so everything was ok to pass the frontier). You cannot imagine the happiness of my daughter - she plays so much with them!

Concerning "Shogun", it wasn't so easy for him at the beginning in the car. He was shocked and only after a long time, fell asleep.

The first night at home, I put all three together in a separate room so that my other cats could smell them without any direct conflict possibilities. After a few days now of cohabitation, I'm already satisfied of the result. Most of my previous cats accept them - only two of my dominating males still show jealousy signs ... but I'm confident and think that time will help them.

The little siamese and Shogun play a lot together and Shogun slowly seems to appreciate his new life. He's less timorous and really likes to be brushed. I went to my veterinary to have some vitamins for his fur so that he can recover strength and become a beautiful cat as he must have been before being abandoned.

I'm grareful for all your help to obtain the papers for Shogun and really admire your commitment and the time you devote for all these poor cats. People like you and the persons who help you in Aldea Felina are rare.

We got an email from Esperanza!

Just a little note to let you all know that I am enjoying myself in my new house. When I first arrived I found lots of places to hide and my new owner (Julie),could not find me. She was so worried as I had only been there for a little while. I decided then, to creep out of my hiding position and let her know that I was still there, but I admit, I was a little frightened. I am now finding my feet, although I do slip about when I am running as there are slippery tiles. She picks me up quite a lot, but I am not sure whether I like it, although I am now relaxing a bit and enjoying a cuddle. I have bumped into the cat, who looks a lot like me, from downstairs. I don't think I like him very much, he thinks he owns the place, but fortunately he lives downstairs so I won't see him much.

I am eating my food but I haven't been drinking a lot of water. The first night I was left in the kitchen as I just wanted to hide, but the next day I crept into her bed and cuddled up, although I was moaned at when I started to pad with my paws and kept sticking them into the bedclothes. I now sleep in the bed and also underneath when I get a bit hot. I hope you have found a new owner for my cage because I am a lot better now and I think I would like to stay here, so I might not see you again. Say hello to all my friends there and I will get my new Mum to come over and pay for my adoption.

I have attached a picture of the cat downstairs called Geiska to show you what he looks like. I am prettier, don't you think. I have also attached a picture of another of our Aldea Felina cats. He was trying to catch the water in the loo. Maybe that is why he is affectionately called Pooh (short for something like Pumuki). I have not met him yet, but I know he is very happy in Georgie's house and they love him very much.

I forgot to tell you, I am now called SUKI. It is a lot easier for her to say and it suits me, don't you think.

Bye bye to you all. If you would like to see me again you are welcome to come to my new house. Thank you all very much for looking after me and making me well.

I STILL DO NOT LIKE THE CAT DOWNSTAIRS, WHO LOOKS LIKE ME, BUT THEY KEEP HIM AWAY FROM ME. I NOW TAKE UP MORE OF MY MISTRESSES BED THAN SHE DOES, BUT SHE DOESN'T SEEM TO MIND AND WE KEEP EACH OTHER WARM ALL NIGHT. HOPE ALL MY FRIENDS ARE DOING WELL DOWN THERE AND THAT SOME OF THEM ARE FINDING REALLY GOOD HOMES LIKE ME. I WILL WRITE AGAIN LATER TO LET YOU KNOW HOW I AM. BYE FOR NOW, LOVE SUKI"

Lucy

Lucy was taken into foster care by one of our volunteers and settled in very well with the family - so well in fact that they shortly after adopted her. Lucy is described as: "She is a really special one, cute, quiet, laid-back, likes her own space, but occasionally comes for attention. She has never bitten or been aggressive in any way, even at the Vet."

This cute little five month old Siberian-cross was found living in the harbour area of Denia and brought to the shelter. He has been adopted by Hatsumi and Jorgen, where he is living with three other cats. He is now called Tor (the Norse god of thunder) and has become especially good friends with Coco (1.5 year old) as they love playing and fighting together; she is small and he is big for his age so they fit well together.
